Beetroot Burpees Golden – Growing Instructions
- Sow your seeds directly onto a moistened growing medium, which is 7-10cm deep.
- Lightly cover the seed and then mist the seeds with water.
- Place the seeded tray into a second tray without drainage holes. This will allow you to bottom water the tray
- Cover with another tray on top to stop light getting in. Then place a weight inside to encourage the roots to grow down and to help the seeds make good contact with the growing medium.
- Leave the seeds undisturbed for 2-3 days, there will be enough moisture in the tray for the seedlings. If more water is added, then it increases the chance of mould growing.
- On day 3-4, check the seeds to see if they’ve germinated. If the soil is dry, then lightly mist with water.
- Leave the seeds until day 5-7 before removing the cover and place in a well-lit location.
- When watering the seedlings, keep using the bottom tray.
- Harvest in 12-15 days or when the seedlings are around 7cm tall. Cut the stems above the soil line with a knife or scissors.
